🍜 Noodles & Pasta Guide
Lawson Noodles & Pasta
ローソンの麺類・パスタ
From Tenkaiichi-supervised rich ramen to fresh pasta with premium dashi broth — Lawson's noodle counter is the most ambitious in the convenience store world.
Lawson's noodle and pasta range covers everything from authentic Japanese soba and udon to Italian-style fresh pasta — all sold chilled and designed to be eaten at room temperature or after microwaving for 1–2 minutes. Look for the chilled case near the back of the store. Some premium items are made with fresh-cooked noodles and artisan broths — well above the typical convenience store standard.

👨🍳 Supervised
天下一品監修 こってりラーメン
Tenkaippin Supervised Rich Ramen
Supervised by Tenkaippin (天下一品), the Kyoto-based ramen chain famous for its uniquely thick, opaque tonkotsu-chicken broth — the richest ramen soup you've ever seen. This convenience store version faithfully reproduces their signature "kotteri" (extra-rich) style. A must for ramen enthusiasts visiting Japan.

満腹濃厚豚ラーメン
Hearty Rich Pork Ramen
A large, filling bowl of thick tonkotsu-style pork broth ramen with a rich, cloudy soup base loaded with collagen from slow-cooked pork bones. よくばりセットメシ 醤油ラーメン&チャーハン
Greedy Set: Soy Ramen + Fried Rice
Can't decide between ramen and fried rice? Get both! This "yoku-bari" (greedy) set meal pairs a bowl of classic soy sauce ramen with a side of savory fried rice. A beloved combination in Japanese ramen restaurants — it's officially called "ramen teishoku" and this convenience store version is great value.
🍜 Udon & Soba (うどん・そば)

スパイスがきいた濃厚カレーうどん
Rich Spiced Curry Udon
Thick, chewy udon noodles bathed in a rich, spice-forward Japanese curry broth. Curry udon is a beloved comfort food in Japan — the thick noodles absorb the curry broth beautifully and each mouthful is deeply warming. This version has a complex spice blend that elevates it above standard curry flavoring. Watch out — it can stain light clothing!

温・冷 気分で選べる!明太釜玉風うどん
Mentai Kama-tama Style Udon (Hot or Cold)
A versatile udon that can be enjoyed hot or cold — inspired by the Sanuki-style "kama-tama" udon where raw egg is tossed with hot noodles to create a silky coating. This version adds spicy mentaiko (cod roe) for a punchy, briny flavor. A uniquely Japanese experience — the egg-coated noodles are incredibly silky and satisfying.
¥559
野菜かき揚げそば
Vegetable Kakiage Soba
Earthy buckwheat soba noodles in a light, aromatic dashi broth topped with a crispy vegetable kakiage tempura fritter. The kakiage is made with shredded vegetables fried in a light batter — as it softens in the broth it becomes a flavorful, soup-drenched component. A quintessentially Japanese bowl that's lighter than ramen but just as satisfying.
¥559
🧊 Cold
冷しとろろそば
Cold Soba with Grated Mountain Yam
Chilled buckwheat soba noodles in a cold tsuyu dipping broth, topped with tororo — a gloopy, sticky grated mountain yam (nagaimo). Tororo has a uniquely slippery, smooth texture that's unlike anything in Western cuisine. This is one of those "only in Japan" eating experiences. Refreshing, healthy, and deliciously unusual.

🧊 Cold
盛岡風冷麺
Morioka-Style Cold Noodles
Inspired by the famous Morioka Reimen from Iwate Prefecture — super chewy, slightly translucent starch noodles in a clear, tangy beef broth served ice cold. Toppings include kimchi, cucumber, and a slice of pear or apple for sweetness. This is one of the most distinctive regional noodle dishes in Japan and a real discovery for food-curious travelers.

1/2日分の野菜が摂れる あんかけ焼そば
Ankake Yakisoba with Half a Day's Vegetables

ソースたっぷり生パスタ カルボナーラ
Fresh Pasta — Plenty of Carbonara Sauce
Lawson's fresh pasta (not dried) coated in an abundant, egg-rich carbonara sauce with bacon and parmesan. The "seipasta" (生パスタ, fresh pasta) range uses pasta with a noticeably more tender, springy bite compared to dried pasta. The sauce is generously applied — rich and creamy without being too heavy.
¥599
ソースたっぷり生パスタ 明太カルボナーラ
Fresh Pasta — Mentai Carbonara
A Japanese twist on carbonara — the egg-rich cream sauce is mixed with spicy mentaiko (seasoned cod roe), creating a uniquely Japanese-Italian fusion. Artisan Dashi Fresh Pasta — Clam & Kyoto Leek
A remarkable Japanese-Italian fusion pasta where Italian fresh pasta meets Japanese dashi cooking. Clean, delicate, and profoundly Japanese in spirit despite the pasta format.
¥538
こだわりおだし 醤油きのこ
Artisan Dashi Pasta — Soy Sauce & Mushroom
Fresh pasta tossed in a soy-based Japanese dashi sauce with earthy mushrooms — a simple but deeply umami-rich combination. The dashi broth gives the sauce a complex, savory depth that no Italian pasta sauce can replicate. This is the most Japanese of the pasta range and an ideal choice for those seeking something lighter than cream-based sauces.

ナポリタン
Japanese Neapolitan (Tomato Ketchup Pasta)
A Japanese classic that has nothing to do with Naples — Neapolitan (Naporitan) is spaghetti stir-fried with tomato ketchup, onion, bell pepper, and sausage slices. It's sweeter and softer than Italian pasta — born in postwar Japan and now a beloved nostalgic comfort food. The slightly sticky, saucy noodles are uniquely Japanese. Sprinkle with Tabasco if you like heat!

The garlic-forward sauce is fragrant and intense — a great choice for garlic lovers who want something straightforward and delicious.
🍜 Noodle Tips for Visitors
- Microwave instructions: All chilled noodles have microwave instructions printed in Japanese on the packaging. The number shown is the wattage (500W or 600W) and the time in minutes:seconds. Most take 2–3 minutes.
- Eat it hot: Ramen and udon are much better warm. Don't skip the microwave — even a 90-second heat makes a huge difference.
- Cold noodles don't need heating: Items labeled 冷し (hiyashi) or 冷麺 (reimen) are meant to be eaten cold — don't microwave them!
- Condiments: Many noodle dishes come with a small sachet of sauce or toppings in the lid — mix these in before eating. Check the top of the container.
- Fresh pasta range: The 生パスタ (fresh pasta) range is noticeably better quality than the dried pasta range. Worth the small price premium.
